Teri Hatcher refutes British report she's quitting 'Desperate Housewives'
Every time you start to think the American media is hopelessly mired in spreading misinformation through half-baked stories from unrealiable, anonymous sources, just remember that we're at least not as bad as the British media. After declaring Teri Hatcher was quitting Desperate Housewives, the actress refuted claims herself via Facebook. Oh good, we get to see a cougar in lingerie every week chasing a murderous plumber who is a recovering crackhead ad infinitum.
There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is," Hatcher wrote on her official Facebook fan page after the U.K.'s Daily Mail said she told producers of the ABC show we was leaving to make her own show. "'Newspapers' should be accountable for this kind of irresponsible journalism and reckless fabrication of a story. What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would 'quit' what has been one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis."
She goes on to admonish the papers untruthiness, and threatens us with the length of her tenure: "I have never said nor inferred otherwise. They made no effort to contact me or my representatives or the network to fact check. I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone's Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie. I will say it again, I love DH, the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till its cancelled." With any luck, that means this melodramedy will be killed after its contract expires in 2012.
