Tila Tequila fiance, Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson found dead
You might say we're a shade late with news that Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, a.k.a. Tila Tequila's sugar mama, was found dead in her L.A. home on Monday. You also could say we find it hypocritical to really care about someone most people outside Manhattan social circles hadn't even heard of until a few weeks ago.
So anyway, the great-granddaughter of the Q-Tip company's founder and daughter of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has died at the age of 30. Tequila (nee Nguyen), who recently got "engaged" to the heiress, was overheard telling friends Johnson had overdosed on prescription pills, RadarOnline says.
"Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away," Tequila tweeted via @officialTila not long after initial reports surfaced. "Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family."
That "offline" time included several more messages in which Tila ranted about Casey's death, at one time even tweeting "I just got news that my fiance is not dead but currently in a coma!!! Omg please pray that she will make it! Hang in there my love please!!!"
That, of course, didn't turn out to be true. Tila tweeted several more times after that, including "R.I.P my Angel. @caseyjonsonJnJ u will forever be in my heart! I love u so so much and we will Marry when I see U in Heaven my Wifey."
An LAPD spokesman told the New York Post Casey's body was discovered just before noon.
"We do have an investigation that's in progress," the spokesman said. "The term 'apparent natural (causes)' has been used, but we're still trying to get more information."
TMZ reported that Johnson had been dead for several days, which leads us to ask, what happened to Tila? It seems the couple were fighting last week and Tequila hadn't heard from her since Dec. 29. Casey's phone had been shut off and she had made her last Twitter post, meaning they didn't spend New Year's Eve together. There was no evidence of foul play, for the record.
The Johnson family issued a short statement, saying, "The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss and asks for privacy during this very difficult time." Casey's mother Sale Johnson currently has custody of Casey's adopted Kazakh daughter, Ava.
Johnson, who went to high school with the dreaded Paris Hilton and turned down an offer to be on The Simple Life (much to Nicole Richie's benefit) reportedly was on medication for diabetes and took anti-anxiety pills. She had a history of diabetic comas, which may have contributed to her death, some sources have said. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, but toxicology reports always take forever, so we'll keep you posted.
