'Toddlers & Tiaras' prostitute costume being auctioned for pro-life charity
By now you've no doubt seen the Toddlers & Tiaras clip in which a little girl named Paisley is whored out by her mother, who dresses her Julia Roberts outfit for a Pretty Woman dance routine. But if that wasn't enough controversy for you, check this: The hooker costume is getting auctioned off to benefit a pro-life charity. TLC editors are either geniuses commenters of the zeitgeist or hoping to speed the apocalypse.
Wendy Dickey, who conceived of the idea to have her 3-year-old dress like a woman of the night and prance in front of strangers, told E! that she has decided to try to cool the resulting firestorm by selling off the handmade dress and giving the proceeds to Georgia Right to Life. But Dickey, who argued the costume was the result of her trying to pick movie characters she liked, said part of the problem was TLC's editing. Sure it was.
"TLC edited out the second part of the routine. We did a quick change into the polka-dot dress of the reformed Julia Roberts, a before and after," Dickey said (watch the video above). "Everyone in the room was laughing hysterically. It was meant to be funny, not sexual at all. I made the dress myself! It barely went above the knee, very nonrevealing and nonsexy."
But ... but ... but you dressed your child as a hooker! And had her dance for other idiot parents who clapped and cheered! And then won first place! Oh, what's the use anymore? Apparently the L in TLC stands for Learning How Clueless People Are.
