Tom Cruise 'always wanted to kill Hitler'
If only the Allies had been able to recruit Tom Cruise to their side during World War II, everything would have been over much faster. The actor said Sunday that playing Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, the would-be assassin of Adolf Hitler in the flick Valkyrie, fulfilled his childhood dream of murdering a dictator.
"I've always wanted to kill Hitler," Cruise told reporters in Seoul, South Korea, where the movie is opening Thursday, the AP reports. "As a child, I used to wonder why someone didn't stand up and kill him."
Were it so easy, Mr. Tom. Cruise said he "came to greatly admire" Herr Colonel the more he read about the man, even though he (SPOILER ALERT) failed Cruise's criteria of actually killing Hitler.
"Although the story takes place during the World War II, I found the story ageless," he said. Making the movie "was a powerful experience that I will never forget."
Oh, and Tom, we'll never forget that your quotes taken slightly out of context are ageless, as well.
