Tom Cruise is the highest paid actor in the last year
Want to make things in Tom Cruise's divorce from Katie Holmes? Consider for a moment the 50-year-old has been named Forbes' highest-paid actor for last year and that pre-nuptial agreement and the mind boggles.
The magazine said Cruise raked in $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012, mostly from Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, which earned $700 million at the global box office. He also got a nice payday from that sci-fi movie Oblivion, which he is now shooting in Iceland. That's also where he was stuck when his wife filed for divorce last week, so we hope the location shoots are pleasant.
That big payday helped put him $38 million from the next two stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler, who both brought in $37 million. Coming up just behind them is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who rode garbage like Fast and Furious, Journey to the Center of the Earth and the upcoming G.I. Joe sequel to a $36 million year. Ben Stiller came up with $33 million to round out the top five.
The even 10 (or 11, in this case) are full of the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen, Johnny Depp and Will Smith, all at $30 million; Mark Wahlberg, who managed $27 million; and Twilight costars Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, who tied for the final spot with $26.5 million each. They'd better enjoy that high point, because the wave can only roll back from here.
