Tommy Chong, part of the weed-smoking duo Cheech and Chong with Cheech Marin, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The actor made the announcement Saturday on CNN.

"I've got prostate cancer, and I'm treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis," the 74-year-old told Don Lemon. "So (legalizing marijuana) means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested." He said he was diagnosed about a month ago, and was "a slow stage one," a condition he's had for years.

Before you go thinking his Mary Jane habit caused the cancer, he wants to stop you cold: He swears he was drug free for three years wehn he was diagnosed. "So I know it had nothing to do with cannabis," he told CNN. "Cannabis is a cure." Or at least a surefire way to forget you have prostate cancer for awhile.
