T.R. Knight officially gone from 'Grey's Anatomy'
Thanks to the power of the Internet, instant gratification allows us to avoid having to wait until fall to find out what happens to characters on our favorite shows. To wit: Entertainment Weekly says T.R. Knight's George O'Malley is officially dead on Grey's Anatomy. Gee, did the getting-hit-by-a-bus thing give it away?
Sources tell the mag that Knight has been released from his contract, even though series creator Shonda Rhimes had until June 30 to decide. T.R. had been increasingly distraught with his lack of airtime, though Rhimes says that comes with ensemble drama territory -- but then it helped get rid of him.
"I really wanted you to not notice that he wasn't there for most of this episode," she said of the season finale, in which O'Malley is missing and the characters take for granted. "I don't think anybody noticed because of the way we laid it out this season."
Of course, Us magazine says Knight left because he was sick of the games: "He's had enough of Shonda and ABC," a source said. "He decided to take back his power."
Ah yes, the bracing power of unemployment (unless a rumored role in a Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor works out).
