Treme actor Michael Showers drowned, autopsy says
In a mysterious storyline that would be right at home on his HBO show Treme, actor Michael Showers was pulled from the Mississippi River on Wednesday after apparently drowning. There were no signs of trauma on his body, but will have to wait until tests are run to find out if he had any drugs or alcohol in his system.
The 44-year-old actor, who played police Capt. John Guidry on the series, was found by a riverboat captain. He had been in the water for at least two days, the AP says, but his girlfriend said he had gone for a drink on Tuesday and not returned. Toxicology tests will take about three weeks, the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office said.
Showers also acted in The Vampire Diaries, Traffic and is in the new Zoe Saldana movie Colombiana.
