TV Guide may or may not have lightened Padma Lakshmi
We can't keep up with every Photoshopped magazine cover, mostly because every photo not in a newspaper is likely altered somehow, and even then you don't know for sure. But when PopEater accused TV Guide of lightening Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi's skin tone on the cover of next week's edition, we have to pay attention (if for no other reason than we get to run a photo of Padma).
The website notes that the Indian-born cookbook author/TV personality/former model/hardee's pitchwoman/new mom looks a few shades brighter than usual on the cover, which she shares with Tom Colicchio. They imply this is similar to controversies involving infamous incidents with Gabourey Sidibe's Elle cover or Freida Pinto in Vanity Fair, even though there's no proof TV Guide did anything untoward. They aren't the British tabloids, you know.
Frankly, we don't see it; Padma and Tom are obviously going for some sort of 1940s soda fountain thing here, so it's entirely possible she's just been pancaked up and stuck under bright lights. But hey, at least PopEater is shoring up American industry by manufacturing a scandal.
