'Ugly Betty' actor Michael Brea describes killing mother with Masonic sword
As previously reported, Ugly Betty bit actor Michael Brea killed his mother with a sword Tuesday in a vicious assault in a New York apartment. But thanks to those crack tabloid reporters up there, Brea described the whole incident. Have fun trying to sleep tonight after reading this.
"I didn’t kill her. I killed the demon inside her," Brea said in an hourlong interview with the New York Daily News at Bellevue Hospital’s prison ward on Thursday. He shrugged and said "So be it; It was the work of God," when informed of mother Yannick Brea’s death from stab wounds inflicted by a Masonic ceremonial sword.
The 31-year-old said he had a dream on Sunday that God had come to him and reached out to him: I said, 'God, is my time on earth over?' I heard a voice say, 'Yes Michael, today is your last day.' I asked if I could say goodbye to my family."
He also said he'd been approached on Monday by a man who had tried to curse him while Brea was at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem, giving him a Freemason pin. He said he left, but was approached by several people on the train ride home asking about his mother.
"I felt like Neo from The Matrix. I began hearing voices and feeling powerful," Brea said. "They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign." He went home and hugged his mother before going to his room, lighting some candles and picking up the ceremonial sword, which investigators said he had stolen from the lodge, but Brea said his father had given to him as a boy. Eventually he confronted Yannick with the sword.
"I asked, 'Do you believe in God?' She said, 'No, Michael no,' and began screaming. I began slashing her like this," Michael said, demonstrating to the reporter and describing how he chased her through the apartment. "I didn't want to kill her right away. I wanted to give her time to get right with God." The attack continued until police arrived.
Cops finally got in and found bllod all over the apartment, with Michael holding the sword and a Masonic Bible.
"I heard voices telling me how powerful I was, saying 'Oh he's good,'" Brea added.
