Universal drops Taylor Lautner, Stretch Armstrong movie
We've got good news and bad news about that ridiculous Stretch Armstrong movie: The good news is that Universal Pictures has dropped the movie and Taylor Lautner is out of a job. The bad news is, Relativity Media picked it up and gave it an April 11, 2014 release date. But hey, at least no Twilight almuni, right?
Gulliver's Travels director Rob Letterman, who was going to run the Stretch show, wasn't mention in a press release posted by Deadline.com, either, so we're guessing he's off. Maybe there will be work making a sequel to the upcoming Battleship movie. Perhaps Universal came to its sense about making so many movies based on hasbro toys; Ouija, Clue, Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering all bit the dust.
Lautner's people say "it was our choice" to leave the project, but word has it he was gone after Abducted flopped so badly. Perhaps his fan base just can't get over the idea of him being a movie where he doesn't turn into a cartoon werewolf. He'd probably be taking his shirt off a lot, though, because Stretch didn't have one. The tweens will just have to dream.
