VH1 is bringing back 'Pop Up Video,' smart-aleck comments

In spectacular news for children of the '90s, VH1 has wisely announced it is resurrecting Pop Up Video for the fall. Just what we always wanted -- another TV show full of snide commentary and trivial facts with which to waste 30 minutes a day. It's right up our alley, you know.

"I have sat on the sidelines for the last decade and watched as everyone and the brother has ripped off Pop Up in some way or another with the Internet coming out of nowhere and Twitter being hauntingly familiar and all of these devices that are using snarky, pithy text," said the show's co-creator, Woody Thompson, according to AOL's TV Squad. The show originally ran from 1996 to 2002.

popupvideo.jpgWow, we hope Thompson's joking around, because if you can trademark pithy invective, The Juice* will be getting a cease-and-desist order any day now. Get ready for 60 new episodes of the new series soon, now featuring rap and hip-hop, which it previously eschewed because that was MTV's game. Luckily, Music Television never shows music anymore.
