VH1 introducing 44 (!) new TV shows in 2010
If you're one of the legions who decry MTV's lack of music videos these days (thanks for trying your hardest to revive the art form, Lady Gaga), don't turn on VH1. The network has announced it is releasing FORTY-FOUR original TV series and specials in 2010. Some of them might even feature music.
This slate includes new series -- some of which have already started -- with Dr. Drew Pinsky, Eva Longoria, Chad Ocho Cinco, Jessica Simpson, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas from TLC and Brandy, second seasons of Scream Queens and Fantasia Barrino's Fantasia for Real, specials with Christina Aguilera and 50 Cent, and a movie by Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment. And that's just the beginning.
"We’re taking our signature storytelling strengths and amplifying them through three distinct areas: music, celebrities and real life stories,” Jeff Olde, executive vice president of original programming and production, said in a press release. “And we’re expanding the ways we tell a story so that we have more ways to reflect on what’s happening in the music and pop culture that our viewers love.”
You know what we love? Music videos. Remember those? They were real cheap and short and helped contribute to our generation's ADD. Try bringing those back.
