Vin Diesel says there will be seven 'Fast and Furious' movies
Vin Diesel says the latest installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast Five, was such a hit that not only will there be a sequel, there will be two. That's right, they're going all The Hobbit up in here. And would you believe it's because of the story?
"With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’'t have enough space," Diesel told the Hollywood Reporter. He noted the sixth and seventh movies will be written simultaneously, which is a pretty good trick. Wouldn't you want to see how the sixth one ends first?
"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages," Diesel said. "The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!'" That should be your first clue something's wrong, but that's what happens when a car-chase move grosses $626 million. Given the incongruous naming conventions in this series, we suggest calling No. 6 Fast and No. 7 Furious.
