Vince Neil avoids jail time, pleads guily in poking case
The real newspaper people are covering Dr. Conrad Murray's trial and we need a break from Kim Kardashian going to Minnesota to hash things out with Kris Humphries, so we'll round out today's coverage with word that Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil avoided jail time for alleged domestic abuse in a Las Vegas courtroom. The drama doesn't get any heavier than that, folks.
The 50-year-old Neil didn't even appear in court as he attorney entered a guilty plea to pointing and swearing at entertainment reporter ex-girlfriend Alicia Jacobs at a casino comedy club in March 24. That helped him avoid a more serious misdemeanor charge of battery constituting domestic violence, which was dismissed by the judge, the AP reports. Neil must pay a $1,000 fine for the misdemeano; he was facing up to a year in jail.
Jacobs, who has at various times said she is either 39 or 45, was at the Las Vegas Hilton with Wayne Newton's sister-in-law and publicist Patricia McCrone and Las Vegas Sun entertainment columnist John Katsilometes on march 24 when Neil allegedly poked her and left a bruise. Indeed, it was the crime of the century, but now that it's all resolved, we can go back to reading about things besides our stagnant economy, failing infrastructure, ineffective education system or the moral bankruptcy festering in our society. Wait, no, we'll cover that last one.
