Voltron movie gets producers who can deliver
Hollywood has been threatening us with a Voltron movie for years, and normally we hate the whole idea. But then, now that the producers of Get Smart, The International and The Dark Knight own the rights, there's hope. Of course, there was hope for Transformers, also.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Wanted producer Jason Netter and World Events honcho Ted Koplar are joining Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Steve Alexander of the production company Atlas to make a live-action flick based on the five robot lions who form one giant lion-human robot.
Koplar's quote says that Voltron, despite its ridiculous premise, can stand alone, and won't get lost among the giant-robot hype: "Unlike other robotic action movies, Voltron is the personification of the human spirit, a quality that will set this movie apart." You know what else will set it apart? No one younger than 25 will have ever heard of it.
