Warner Bros. offers first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in 'Man of Steel'
Warner Bros. has been sending out a brand-spankin'-new press still of Henry Cavill as Superman in the forthcoming Man of Steel, and you know what? He don't look half-bad. That's a modern-retro Superman to make George Reeves proud.
Sporting that newfangled, skintight, textured fabric that's all the rage in reboots these days (a la The Dark Knight and Star Trek), it's kind of hard to tell if Kal-El is wearing his trademark red undies, but that's probably by design: his new DC Comics run has him sans the tightie-reddies. Meanwhile, his S is large enough to use as a picnic shelter, so director Zack Snyder obviously wanted to move away from the Brandon Routh-era model.
This is a momentous occasion for The Juice*, because I'm actually going to say this already looks like it could be watchable. Of course, throwing in Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Julia Ormond and Russell Crowe doesn't hurt. At least we know Christopher Nolan will be keeping an eye on things as producer.
