Warner Bros. is remaking 1992's 'The Bodyguard'
Warner Bros., continuing a tradition of creating nothing new, has decided to remake The Bodyguard, Deadline.com reports. How can they make a movie that just came ou-- OH MY GOD IT'S ALMOST 20 YEARS OLD!
The site says Family Getaway's Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer will rewrite the 1992 Kevin Costner/Whitney Houston tale, making the title character an Iraq War veteran who takes a job protecting a star. The big difference will be the use of Twitter, Google Maps and TMZ as a cultural backdrop that makes his job that much more difficult. That almost sounds compelling, we admit.
Clint Eastwood will be directing Beyonce Knowles in a remake of 1976's Barbra Streisand vehicle A Star Is Born, itself a remake of the 1954 Judy Garland musical and the 1937 Janet Gaynor drama. Too bad Beyonce would be unavailable, since we'll likely end up with Rihanna or Nicki Minaj as the singer in The Bodyguard. As for the male lead, please, lord, don't let it be Channing Tatum.
