Warner Bros. wants to reboot 'Gremlins' franchise
Since very few fresh ideas exist in Hollywood (read the summary of Marion Cotillard's French movie Rust and Bone to see what a novel take on an old formula looks like), word is that Warner Bros. is looking to revive the Gremlins franchise. Flip a coin as to whether it will be a reboot or a remake. We still can't decipher which is which.
Vulture blog says Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment is working on a deal, and that having Spielberg involved may be a requirement, which would be an expensive proposition, indeed.
