Wesley Snipes ordered to Pa. prison for tax evasion
It's been two years since Wesley Snipes was convicted of tax evasion, but it looks like he may finally have to go to prison. The U.S. Marshal's Office ordered Snipes to report to the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Lewis Run, Pa. by Dec. 9, the AP reports. That means no more Blade movies for awhile.
Snipes had been fighting to stay free on bail while appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court, but will have to serve his three-year sentence after an appellate court in Atlanta upheld his conviction by a federal jury in Ocala. The 48-year-old was found guilty of willfully failing to file income tax returns, which Snipes and his attorneys argued was a tainted verdict because many jurors had already made up their minds before the trial.
We doubt Wesley will serve the whole three years, because celebrities never do, but we are mired in a recession. Keeping money from the government is a reall no-no these days.
