Whitney Houston's N.J. mansion for sale for $1.75 million
Here's your chance to own a piece of the Whitney Houston legend: An industrious broker has resurrected the listing for the New Jersey mansion in which Whitney battled her drug addiction -- and her ex-husband, Bobby Brown. This slice of history can be yours for a mere $1.75 million. Let the bidding war begin!
In perhaps the most crass real estate listing The Juice* has ever perused, the CarProperty.com ad says Houston asked the site to list the property a few years ago, but hey, they have the perfect opportunity to remind you of it now! The 12,561-square-foot house in Mendham Township boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a hot tub and swimming pool and a four-car garage with 15 extra parking spaces on more than five acres. Plus, it was on Being Bobby Brown.
"This house was also the scene of the activity that brought down this incredible musical diva over a 15 year cycle. The mansion was also used in the filming of a 2005 reality show in which she and her ex-husband appeared at the pinnacle of Whitney Houston's fall from musical power and grace," the ad reads. "With all of this incredible star studded history, if you owned this house you would always have these incredible stories to go with it. A great conversation piece for anyone."
The International Business Times says the listing is by broker Robert Cross, who is listing it at this price after it was first listed for $2.5 million in 2009, a price that has steadily dropped as the property changed hands from Coldwell Banker to Kienlen Lattman Realtors and now this guy. The singer apparently sold a house nearby for $940,000 in 2010, and owned property in North bergen, N.J.; Alpharetta, Ga., and Laguna Beach, Calif., where she was living when she died.
Cross is asking you show proof of $1.5 million in liquid assets before he'll show it to you, though, so you may just want to watch old reality show clips on YouTube to get a better look.
