Who'da thunk the supermarket tabs would lie?
Surprise, surprise ... a new book by freelance writer Marlise Elizabeth Kast says tabloids will do whatever it takes to suggest even straight Hollywood stars are gay, the New York Post’s Page Six says. Tabloid Prodigy, which will be released later this month, recounts Kast’s assignment at Globe to dig up dirt on BFFs Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Kast cornered Tobey’s mom Wendy and asked her about her thoughts of the two men’s relationship for an article to run in a gay pride magazine. Said Wendy: “I figured this subject would come up sooner or later ... Those two are just free-spirited guys. Most of the friends they hang around with are gay. They’re comfortable with that. But I think Leo and Tobey are the crossover between men and women. They have feminine traits they are willing to accept. They aren’t ashamed to have any sort of title, even if that means someone calling them gay.” Wendy even said the two friends ‘shared a bed and wore ribbons in their hair.’
Kast didn’t call the pair gay, but writes “Wendy had provided exactly what the editors wanted — insinuations.” And as politicians have showed us, that’s enough these days.
