Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith may be splitting up (but aren't)
In the sensationalist rumor of the day, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were supposed to be separating after 13 years of marriage, In Touch Weekly reports. But then no, it wasn’t true. It doesn’t matter, because every gossip outlet ran with it almost immediately.
In a telling phone call, TMZ contacted Jada's rep, Karynne Tencer, who responded simply, "What? In Touch said that? I know nothing about this ... Lord. I'm going back to bed." That was followed up with a message from the couple themselves that all was well.
"Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact," Will and Jada said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
Before the statement, unnamed sources denied the story, with one anonymous family member telling RadarOnline "This is absolutely not true. ... They're happy and married still." An employee at Overbrook entertainment, Will's production company, told the site, "The rumors are not true. Not sure who the source was but they are wrong. All is good in their relationship."
That would have been bad news for Hollywood's power family, what with actor son Jaden and singer daughter Willow slowly taking over all of entertainment. Jada is also stepmother to Will's son from a previous marriage, Trey, but you don't hear about him very much. Oh, well, except when he took to Twitter on Tuesday to say via @TheOfficialTrey, "Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split ! False information" before stepmom and dad issued their statement. There's always that.
