'Zombieland' may skip sequel, go to TV instead
There's been talk of a sequel to 2009's Zombieland since, well, 2009, but it doesn't look like Columbia Pictures is going to make it. But that's only because Fox and Sony Pictures Television want to make a TV series instead. That would make a hilariously weird bookend to AMC's The Walking Dead, wouldn't it?
"The original plan for this was to make it as a TV show, but they did what networks do, which is to take all the good stuff out," Zombieland producer Gavin Poole tells New York magazine. Apparently CBS ordered a pilot for the show way back in 2005 but passed, and SyFy couldn't afford to make it work, so here we are.
Don't expect to see Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone or the rest of the cast to return (especially poor Bill Murray), but movie writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will probably still work on the show, which they've wanted to do for years anyway. That means more Zombie Kills of the Week for everyone!
