Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell: Boycott celebrity baby photos
New parents Kristen Bell and husband Dax Shepard are calling on the public to boycott publications that print or post photos of celebrities’ children without permission.
The Parenthood actor and House of Lies actress spoke about the issue on Friday’s airing of Today, the Los Angeles Times reports.
There is a law in the books aimed at preventing paparazzi from taking unauthorized photos of celebrities’ kids, but Shepard says it still happens. “You see a lot of paparazzi blackmailing celebrities, saying if you pose for a few pictures we’ll leave you alone for the rest of the day. And I just don’t think that that’s the best option that we have in this world,” he told Tamron Hall of NBC News.
“If the consumer says, 'No, we don’t want this anymore,’ the publications don’t pay for the pictures,” Bell said. “The paparazzi aren’t getting paid, they stop taking pictures of the kids. That’s the mathematics.”
The couple took the message to Twitter as well with Shepard tweeting, Children shouldn’t be stalked. #boycottusweekly #boycottstar #boycottpeople #boycottintouch #boycottboycottboycott.
