Dr. Luke will be the third judge on 'American Idol' next season
While you were spending all weekend watching Justin Timberlake's nonstop hits medley in Brooklyn, American Idol quietly hired Dr. Luke to be its third judge for the upcoming season. Then everyone went on Twitter to talk about the Blurred Lines/We Can't Stop mashup.
E! reports that Lukasz Gottwald was signed, taking a seat next to Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez. The songwriter and producer got the job after will.i.am bowed out, probably because he's out negotiating another awful acting job in another middling X-Men movie.
This is probably the most high-powered judging panel yet, with some certified hitmakers calling the shots. For his part, songwriter and producer Dr. Luke has helped make singles like Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson, Ke$ha's Tik Tok, Katy Perry's California Gurls and a bunch of other songs that got so much airplay you would start changing the station when they came on. He'll be perfect for Idol!
