Ellen DeGeneres will host the 86th Academy Awards

The Academy Awards have again decided to play it safe and give Ellen DeGeneres another shot, following her 2007 stint as host. Well, we can be sure they won't let James Franco in the building again.

"It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra," DeGeneres announced on Twitter Friday. It seems Seth MacFarlane's performance last year wasn't some people's cup of tea.

The move came the same week as the announcement of Cheryl Boone Isaacs' election as only the third woman ever to lead the Academy. We hope the first thing she does is cut down on all those long-winded lifetime achievement montages. The Awards will be on ABC on March 2, 2014.
