Gawker posts audio of 2009 post-VMA rant by Kanye West bashing Taylor Swift, Pink
Of course we all remember Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, but what we haven't heard is just how out of his gourd West got after the show. Luckily Gawker shared a recording of Kanye being Kanye and insulting Swift and Pink, for some reason.
"I'm pushing the envelope! I wrote my f---in' Run This Town verse for a f---in' month! When I heard Eminem's verse on the Drake s---, I went back and rewrote my s--- for two days. I canceled appointments to rewrite! I f---in' care! You know what I'm saying?" West rants at the Corner Bistro in the West Village, according to Gawker.
"And that's what I'm saying. Because I did that, Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé. As long as I'm alive! And if I'm alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I'm alive, you gon' have to deal with it. 'Cause there ain't gonna be no more motherf---ing Elvises with no James Browns."
A woman with him asks "Why are you so angry?", which ironically seems to make him angrier, invoking his late mother, Donda West. "Because my mother got arrested for the f---in' sit-ins. My mother died for this fame s--- I moved to f---in' Hollywood chasing this s---. My mother died because of this s---. F--- MTV."
Then he launches into another tirade to support his point of view.
"It ain't no love. What the f--- was Pink performing? Don't nobody know that song. Pink performed twice! Two songs? How the f--- Pink perform two songs and I didn't even get asked to perform Heartless. Heartless is the biggest song of the year! It had the most spins of the first quarter! I don't know that Pink song! But I noticed that she's pink!"
