George Clooney engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin
Everyone stop what you’re doing and grab some tissues and ice cream. George Clooney — the silver fox whom nary a woman (okay, one woman a thousand years ago) has been able to lock down — is engaged. We repeat: George Clooney is engaged to British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, according to People.
"George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem," an inside source blabs. "I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever."
Amal, who’s spent the last six months as the obligatory beauty on Clooney’s arm, was seen wearing a ginormous diamond ring on that finger on Thursday when the couple dined with Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber at Nobu in Malibu. And since no woman could ever buy herself beautiful, expensive jewelry, it must mean she and her leading man are locked in for the hitchin’.
Two more sources say they saw the betrothed couple at Craig's in L.A., apparently celebrating their engagement with friends on Wednesday. Amal was wearing her rock then, too.
The pair haven’t addressed the rumors and Clooney's rep "doesn't comment on his client's personal life," but if it’s true and they go through with it, this will be Clooney’s second marriage. Actress Talia Balsam was the first and last lady friend to clamp that ball and chain around the Monuments Men actor’s ankle... way, way back in 1989. Their union lasted a whopping five years.
