Gwyneth Platrow, Chris Martin separate
Poor Apple and Moses. Yes, because of their names, but also because parents Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have announced their separation after a decade of marriage.
“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” they announced in a post titled Conscious Uncoupling on the Oscar-winning actress’s lifestyle website Goop.
“We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been,” they added.
“We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
All you Gwyneth haters may now rejoice in her sadness.
The split comes just one month after rumors began to swirl that Paltrow, 41, had cheated on the 37-year-old Coldplay frontman, with entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn, the New York Daily News reports. The word got out on the anonymous secret-sharing app Whisper, an accusation the Iron Man star’s publicist Stephen Huvane vehemently denied (because that's his job).
“This is clearly a fabricated story with no credibility at all,” Huvane said. “The only time Gwyneth has even recently seen Kevin Yorn (who she knows only casually through business contacts) was on a flight from NY-LA. Gwyneth was flying with her assistant and the CEO of Goop, and Kevin coincidentally was also in the first class section. I cannot be more clear with you when I say she is NOT having an affair with Kevin Yorn, and I will be notifying her attorneys as well.”
Just last summer Paltrow told Good Housekeeping that marrying Martin was the best thing she ever did. But she also admitted that things hadn’t been going so well at home.
“It’s hard being married. You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We’re the same as any couple,” she told Glamour UK in May. “I’ve learned more about myself being married than anything else. I hate to say, 'We’ve got it worked out,’ because you never know what’s going to happen, but we laugh, we’re good friends, we like to do the same stuff.”
Just not together.
