'Hairspray' director Adam Shankman checks into rehab
Taking a page from his star Zac Effron’s playbook, Hairspray director Adam Shankman has checked into rehab. Effron got help for alcohol and cocaine issues twice this year. It’s all the rage.
The 49-year-old So You Think You Can Dance judge “is currently seeking treatment” for undisclosed reasons, his rep told Us Weekly.
One day before the announcement, Shankman served as director and producer of TrevorLive, a Hollywood event benefiting the Trevor Project. Appearing to be in good spirits, the multitalented Rock of Ages director posted an Instagram photo of himself at the event with singer Adam Lambert and Glee stars Darren Criss and Jane Lynch, the evening’s honoree.
According to TMZ, Shankman was also close with Glee’s Cory Monteith, who died after dealing with his own substance abuse issues. You’d think that’d be enough to scare anyone straight.
