Hugh Jackman announces on social media he had skin cancer
Hugh Jackman sure likes to take his shurt off all the time, but it was the skin on his face that's making news after he announced on Instagram and Twitter that he had a skin cancer scare. In hindsight, the warning signs were as plain as the nose on his face.
"Deb (wife Deborra-Lee Furness) said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma," the 45-year-old wrote as a caption for a photo with his bandaged nose. "Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"
In case you're wondering, basal cell carcinoma can cause disfigurement, but rarely spreads, according to the New York Daily News. That's a serious occupational hazard for Jackman, who is always outside making manly movies that involve lots of closeups of his face. The tabloid said his rep didn't offer further details, but the photo we've included from October clearly shows a spot on his nose. Now he can go back to playing pretty characters like Wolverine.
