A New York teen had a serious red-carpet moment last week, all thanks to Gina Rodriguez. The Jane the Virgin star let Buffalo high school student Jessica Casanova wear her strapless Badgley Mischka gown to prom. Rodriguez wore the dress when she accepted her award for best comedic actress in a TV series.
“Gina’s dress made me feel like a princess and it gave me chills knowing that it was something that came from her heart and I cherish that very much,” Casanova told E! News. “I wish I could give her a big hug and tell her how much I love her. She will always have a special place in my heart.”
In January, Casanova tweeted the 31-year-old actress to ask if she could wear the Zac Posen gown Rodriguez donned this year. Rodriguez, a Chicago native, said she didn’t own that dress but did own her 2015 gown and “maybe we can make this happen.”
So, which do you think Casanova will remember more: her date or her dress?
The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard divorce is getting messier every day.
The latest: Two security guards were in the home at the time of the argument last week, TMZ reports, and they say Depp was about 20 feet away from Heard when she screamed, “Stop hitting me!”
The guards, Jerry Judge and Sean Bett, reportedly were standing in a hallway near the couple, but out of sight to give them privacy during the fight. When Heard screamed, the guards said they entered the living area “within a second” to find Heard on the living room couch and Depp 6 yards away in the kitchen.
The guards are expected to testify in the restraining order trial this month.
A source told the gossip site that Depp claims he and Heard knew the guards were in the hall, and Heard screamed to try to set him up.
The guards added that Heard was the aggressor throughout their 15-month marriage, screaming, throwing bottles and charging at Depp, to the point where they had to pull her off of him. They also backed up the cops’ observation that nothing looked fishy when they showed up at the apartment — no broken glass, no bruises from an allegedly hurled iPhone. Nothing. …
A jury convicted actor Michael Jace of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his wife in May 2014. The Shield actor shot April Jace in front of the couple’s two young sons at their home in Los Angeles.
Jace, 53, who portrayed a police officer on the FX show, was also convicted on a special allegation charge that he used a firearm, according to NBC’s L.A. affiliate.
Jace shot his wife, an avid runner, once in the back and twice in the legs, using her father’s revolver.
“I was just angry,” Jace told investigators. “All I intended to do was shoot her in the leg. And then I shot her in the leg and that was it.”
April Jace had told her husband earlier that day that she wanted a divorce. Michael Jace texted her to say he had left their home but was waiting for her with the loaded handgun when she returned from a youth baseball game.
Jace said he planned to kill himself, but couldn’t.
The couple’s 10-year-old son testified that Jace told his wife, “If you like running, then run to heaven.”
The actor, who had been out of work, faces 40 years to life in prison and will be sentenced on June 10.
Well, who didn’t see this one coming? Mark Salling will no longer star as the villain in Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets.
The decision came down just days after the Glee alum was indicted on child porn charges, TMZ reports.
The film had already started shooting, but they’ll re-shoot Salling’s scenes with a new actor. Shankar is paying for all the extra costs and has decided to donate a portion of the film’s proceeds to a charity that helps abused children.
“Child abuse is a cultural cancer whose tentacles penetrate far deeper than a single celebrity caught with illicit images on his computer,” Shankar said in a statement.
ZOMG. Not long after #GiveElseAGirlfriend became a thing, we may finally have our first gay Disney-Pixar couple.
A new trailer for Finding Dory, which stars LGBT hero Ellen DeGeneres, shows a toddler dropping her sippy cup after being knocked over by a baby stroller. One of the two women passing by picks up the cup.
Okay, so it’s not concrete evidence, but it would be pretty cool if the first Disney movie to show a gay couple was a film starring DeGeneres.
Wrote one logical Twitter user, “People are boycotting Disney because they show a lesbian couple in the Finding Dory trailer… Do they not know who voices Dory?!?”
DeGeneres famously came out as gay in 1997, when it was a much harder thing to do. Finding Dory comes out on June 17.

Another That ’70s Show star has bitten the matrimonial dust.
Topher Grace married Ashley Hinshaw in Santa Barbara on Sunday evening.
According to People, the pair who began dating in 2014 and got engaged in January of 2015 said “I do” in front of family and friends (because who else do you invite to your wedding?) in a private ceremony somewhere near Santa Barbara.
You may know Hinshaw, 27, from such hits as the second season of HBO’s True Detective. Grace, 37, is, well, Topher Grace, and he seemed super pumped about the lead-up to the big day.
“I don’t do any wedding planning,” he told E! News. “It is not up to me… I’m just going to show up.”
Not caring must be nice.
No word on if super-famous, also-married former co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were in attendance, but Grace seemed more excited about their marriage than his own.
“It’s the greatest thing that ever happened,” he said. “They’re the greatest. I love those guys. It’s great to know they’re together. You want to all stay together when you’re on a show like that… They get to stay together forever.” …
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys have welcomed their little American. The Americans co-stars are reveling in the birth of their first child together, insiders tell Us Weekly.
The Felicity star gave birth last week, and “Keri and Matt both look overjoyed and are over the moon to be new parents,” a source said. “They are always snapping pictures of the baby, and family and friends have been sending gifts.”
Russell, 40, and Rhys, 41, who play spies in love on the FX hit, have done their best to keep their real-life romance private after stepping out as a couple in April of 2014.
“Matthew is really in love,” a source told the mag. “They feel they should have always been together.”
Russell is now a mother of three. She shares two kids — River, 8, and Willa, 4 — with ex-husband Shane Deary.
Robin Wright and Kevin Spacey, equals on and off the screen.
Seriously with this? If Robin Wright has to fight for equal pay, what hope is there for the rest of us?
The House of Cards (and Princess Bride and Forrest Gump) megastar and also one of my personal idols demanded to be paid the same as co-star Kevin Spacey for her work as Claire Underwood on the Netflix hit.
“I was like, 'I want to be paid the same as Kevin,’” Wright said Tuesday at the Rockefeller Foundation, which was hosting the first event in a series called “Insight Dialogues.”
The 50-year-old produces and sometimes directs House of Cards, too, just FYI.
“It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in House of Cards,” Wright said.
“I was looking at the statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, 'You better pay me or I’m going to go public. And they did.”
According to the Huffington Post, Spacey was being paid $500,000 per episode in 2014 and rumor had it that number could spike to $1 million, which would make him one of the highest-paid TV or streaming actors. …
This year we had a reason to maybe tune in to the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday: Kesha promised us a performance that would make a “statement” about her legal battle with Dr. Luke and Sony.
Well, it might not happen after all because Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe Records, hasn’t been able to reach an agreement with the singer, a rep for dick clark productions, which produces the show, said in a news release.
“Kesha accepted an invitation to perform on the show and she received written approval from Dr. Luke’s record label, Kemosabe Records,” the statement said. “Kemosabe subsequently rescinded its approval following a media report on Wednesday, May 11, regarding Kesha’s appearance on the BBMAs. Unfortunately, Kesha and Kemosabe have since been unable to come to an agreement for Kesha to perform on the show.”
Now Kesha’s saying she wasn’t actually planning to diss Dr. Luke, whom she has accused of emotional and sexual abuse.
According to a lengthy Instagram caption, the TiK ToK singer was going to honor Bob Dylan. …
We all know that Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce are super close. The famous pair have a lot in common, sharing an affinity for kale and insanely expensive sex toys, among other things.
So, at first we thought that since Bey was just in town for like a month preparing for her Formation World Tour, she must have told Gwynny about how awesome Tampa is, and that’s why the Oscar winner showed up at Restaurant BT on MacDill Avenue on Tuesday.
Paltrow, who’s a major foodie, posed for a photo with chef BT Nguyen outside the French-Vietnamese eatery after ordering Vietnamese Mini Spring Rolls and Chicken Bahn-Mi, which Paltrow confirmed via Instagram, writing, “I did and I looooved it. Perfection!”
However, while the bay area offers a ton of fantastic restaurants and ridiculously fancy purses that Paltrow might like to throw her money at, the actress was actually in town for the IBM Amplify event at the Tampa Convention Center, where she talked goop — and food. “It’s all about moderation,” she told the crowd. “I love kale, but I also love vodka.”
Trolls flocked to Blake Lively’s Instagram en masse on Tuesday after the actress posted a split photo of her front and back as she walked the Cannes red carpet.
The caption read “L.A. face with an Oakland booty,” which some people seem not to realize is a line from Sir Mix-A-Lot’s classic hit Baby Got Back.
Commenters were quick to call out the 28-year-old, saying she’s racist and displaying white privilege. Wrote one IG user, “Another day, another rich white woman using women of color’s bodies as a punchline and commodity- yet everyone defends her and calls it confidence. But hey who the f--- am I to check her privilege! #WhiteGirlsDoItBest.”
Others took to Twitter to share their outrage: “Another day, another rich white woman using WOC’s bodies as a punchline and commodity. As if Blake Lively wasn’t the worst already.”
But the Internet wasn’t completely full of hate. Some backed up Blake's backside throwback. …
Tending bar in New Orleans can be a lot of fun. It’s like a big party with tons of tips. But then again, there are also the out-of-control out-of-towners, which is a downside.
In this case, said out-of-towner was Orange Is the New Black star Ruby Rose. The actress, DJ and Australian model, who recently headlined a show at Tampa’s own Beach Bar, was kicked out of a NoLa restaurant on Friday (the 13th) after chucking French fries at a server.
“She was having like a tantrum. She was awful,” Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen owner Seung Hong told the Times-Picayune, noting that Rose “cursed out” the bartender as well. “She was a horrible person,” Hong added.
Rose took to Facebook on Saturday to tell her side of the story, claiming that it took an hour to receive the fries and that she and her entourage waited 90 minutes for food that never came.
“When I asked about it, the bartender offered us drinks,” Rose wrote. “I explained I’m sober, but thank you.”
When the bartender allegedly “made some really rude and vulgar comments to the table” and made “repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve,” Rose wrote, “… I threw a singular fry at him.” …
When we first read the headline that someone had accosted a Bernie Sanders supporter, we were not shocked. And then we found out that the alleged assault happened at the hand of The Wire star Wendell Pierce.
According to TMZ’s sources, the actor was at the Loews Atlanta Hotel on Saturday when he began talking to a couple around 3:30 a.m. And we all know nothing good happens around 3:30 a.m.
The chat turned to politics, also a bad idea, and upon hearing that the woman supports Sanders, Pierce, a super mega Hillary Clinton supporter, allegedly became enraged — to the tune of shoving the boyfriend then grabbing the woman’s hair and hitting her in the head, which is a no-no.
The couple went to their room and called security, who called the cops. Pierce was arrested for battery, posted $1,000 bond and was released back into the political wild.
UPDATE: Sinead O'Connor has been found safe at a hotel near Chicago's northern suburbs where she was reported missing early Sunday, sources tell WGN. The singer-songwriter has been taken to a local hospital.
Well, the troubled Irish singer has gone missing again and is possibly suicidal. That is not good.
O’Connor, 49, went for a bike ride in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette around 6 a.m. on Sunday and never came back, Us Weekly writes. When she hadn't returned by 9:30 p.m., someone reported her missing, and according to TMZ, police have classified her as “missing suicidal.”
"The Wilmette Police is seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O'Connor," a press release from the desk of Wilmette Police Sgt. Michael Robinson said. "O'Connor reportedly left the Wilmette area for a bicycle ride yesterday at 6:00 AM and has not returned. A caller has expressed concern for her well-being and no other information is available at this time." …
“We made it through the storm. We made it through hell.”
That's what Houston Texans defensive end Devon Still said after marrying longtime fiancee Asha Joyce in The Knot’s Dream Wedding, which also doubled as a celebration of life for Still’s 6-year-old daughter, Leah, who is cancer-free after being diagnosed with life-threatening stage 4 neuroblastoma.
Still and Joyce wed Friday at the New York Public Library.
“I love my new family,” said a crying Leah at the reception. “Thank you for all your support... Now let's party!”
Leah also wept when she watched her dad and new stepmom exchange vows in front of 180 guests during the extravagant Manhattan ceremony.
Still and Joyce, both 26, put their marriage plans on hold two years ago when Leah was diagnosed. She was declared cancer-free in March 2015.
“To see my daughter walking here at my wedding, healthy, knowing she is cancer-free is a tear-jerker for me,” Still told People. “We are using this night to celebrate the strength that we have of making it together as a family. We’re a hell of a team to make it through and to be here, finally happy and at peace.”
Said Leah, who served as flower girl, “This is my first real wedding! It’s great!”
