James Cameron is bringing Stephen Lang's Col. Quaritch back for 'Avatar' sequels
Now that most people have seen Gravity and understand what 3D is supposed to really be like, let's move on to James Cameron's next Avatar movies. Yes, there are more coming. So who's going to be the main villain? Eh, bring Stephen Lang's Col. Miles Quaritch back, they've decided. What could it hurt?
“Stephen was so memorable in the first film, we’re privileged to have him back,” Cameron told Deadline Hollywood. “I’m not going to say exactly how we’re bringing him back, but it’s a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who’s also become a good friend.”
It will indeed be interesting to see how they resurrect him, seeing as Zoe Saldana's Neytiri shot him twice in the chest at the end of the first movie. But hey, if Sam Worthington's Jake Sully can be permanently plugged into a test-tube alien body through a magic tree, there's got to be something that would work.
