James Franco drops out of movie two weeks before shooting starts
Actor and director James Franco had some sort of problem with his upcoming project, The Garden of Last Days, so he reportedly left it on Thursday. Unfortunately it was only two weeks before shooting was slated to start.
Despite a July 10 production date, Franco bailed on the shoot after fighting with bankrollers Millenium after they were unhappy with Franco's inexperienced crew, Deadline.com says. The movie, for which Franco was supposed to both star and direct, is an adaptation of an Andre Dubus III book about a stripper, a loner and a terrorist. Sounds fun.
Some $500,000 was already spent on the project, which doesn't sound like a lot in Hollywood. But when you consider the whole thing only had a budget of $3 million, you realize that film was putting the food on the tables of some people who really needed it.
