Janet Jackson suspends Unbreakable world tour due to surgery
Bad news for Janet Jackson fans near and far — but mostly far because her tour already stopped in Tampa, thank goodness, or it would be like 2001 all over again when her Sept. 11 concert was rescheduled for six weeks later.
So anyway, here’s the news: The legendary Ms. Jackson is suspending her Unbreakable world tour due to surgery. The 49-year-old hasn’t specified what procedure she is planning to undergo but asked for prayers and support.
Jackson's next stop was to be Jan. 9 in Denver, which was actually a makeup show from when she had to go on vocal rest during a couple of tour dates in October.
The singer announced the news via TwitLonger, writing. “Hey you guys… Happy Holidays to each and every one of you. I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”
No word yet on makeup dates, but Jackson wrote that “every date will be rescheduled” and ticket holders will receive some kind of bonus as a thank you for their patience and devotion.
“Please hold on to your tickets,” Jackson wrote. “They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”
The singer said no details about her surgery would be released and asked that fans “please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time.”
She ended the post with an upbeat tone, writing, “I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”
Of course she is. She’s unbreakable.
