Jay Z apparently drops the hyphen out of his name because that's important

We wish it were something more dramatic, like he changed his name to Kay-Y or something.

In easily the most important news of the day, Jay-Z has decided he'd rather be called Jay Z. If you didn't note the difference there, perhaps you should just call him Mr. Carter.

Billboard editor Joe Levy noted the news about Hov in a tweet on Wednesday: Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note."

It seems to be the real deal, because Billboard is already doing it and iTunes is listing Magna Carta Holy Grail without the hyphen, MTV notes. In other news, Jay's wife Beyonce is dropping the accent over the second E because it's too hard to remember how to write it on this keyboard.
