Jenny McCarthy will join 'The View' as co-host in the fall
After losing Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and soon Joy Behar and Barbara Walters, ABC had to move fast to fill seats on The View, so they've officially hired Jenny McCarthy. Those eight guest co-hosting stints really paid off.
“Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor,” Walters told Entertainment Weekly in a statement. “She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View.”
McCarthy, 40, was happy to have some steady work to run to, especially after having to ask VH1 to let her out of ratings stinker The Jenny McCarthy Show. “I’m beyond thrilled … I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off,” McCarthy said.
Hasselbeck ended her 10-year run last week, Behar is leaving next month and Walters will leave next summer, so McCarthy's spot begins Sept. 9. Anyone looking to join The View in the other open co-hosting spot will obviously have to have experience as a Playboy Playmate, game show host and currently be involved in a failing basic cable talk show.
