Kanye West said his 'trendsetting abilities' are as big a deal as Steve Jobs
Forget for a moment the drama with Kanye West's relationship with baby mama Kim Kardashian. Never mind that he may or may not have cheated on her and hasn't been to see her more than a handful of times in the last six months while she has been pregnant with a child. Just peep this rant he went off on in the New York Times while talking about his new album, Yeezus, and respecting his "trendsetting abilities":
"I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means. I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z." he said.
"I’ve been connected to the most culturally important albums of the past four years, the most influential artists of the past ten years. You have like, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, Nicolas Ghesquière, Anna Wintour, David Stern."
The Juice* just doesn't even know what to say to that. Well, other than it really does sound weird when someone refers to themselves in the third person. Now, we have to go learn who this "Steve of Internet" person is ...
