Kim Kardashian picked out her ring, knew Kanye West's proposal was coming

It's a big deal. No, really, it sounds like Kanye got a big deal.

Okay, we know everyone's very happy for Kim Kardashian being engaged to Kanye West and all, but let's get down to brass tacks: We want to know how much that hunk of ice Kanye bought is worth.

First of all, Kim already knew she was getting it, because she told West what to get. That takes a lot of fun out of it from the get-go. "Kim had picked out her own Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring,” a source told RadarOnline. She “told Kanye to get the ring from Lorraine Schwartz because she loves the jeweler’s diamonds. She knew the proposal was happening, she just didn’t know when it would happen.”

So he probably got a good deal on that 15-carat monster, right? Kim has a way with getting discounts on things. She helped her last husband Kris Humphries get her 16.2-carat engagement ring for somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000. Not bad for a sparkler he just sold at auction for $749,000.

“Kanye got a significant deal on the ring just as Kris did because of all the publicity it will get," the source added. "Before Kim gave the ultimate seal of approval on the sparkler, Kanye looked at over 20 diamonds. The diamond has no flaws and has more sparkle than Kim’s previous ring.”

The site says experts estimate the ring's value at $3 million, but say West paid less than $500,000. Somehow we find that even harder to believe than Kim's career trajectory.
