Apparently the hunger for pointless gossip is so great in the English-speaking world that Lady Gaga's fight with celebrity blogger emeritus Perez Hilton is cause for concern. Please only read this if you can tell us what's going on in Egypt right now, lest your priorities in life become too skewed.

At some point on Sunday, one of Lady Gaga's Twitter followers told her that Hilton was in her New York apartment building. This is apparently a problem because the onetime besties are now mortal enemies. So Gaga did what anyone with a skewed sense of self-importance would: She tweeted about it.

"STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" she wrote, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mirror. "DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING"

We have to quote the Mirror, because Gaga deleted the tweets to the Blogger Formerly Known As Mario Lavandeira at some point. Hilton responded with his own self-important message on his website, saying he was simply looking for a place to live in the Big Apple.

"After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my 'wifey' and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter," he wrote. "While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a 'stalker.'"

Great, whatever. Glad he's such a big deal. For her part, Gaga kinda-sorta apologized on Monday after her self-censoring, without mentiong Perez by name.

"Sending threats of any kind, using hateful or abusive language, and the provoking of others on the internet is not supported by me or anything that I stand for," she wrote on the Born This Way Foundation website. "What I’ve seen transpiring is wrong and upsetting to me, and I’ve made it very clear how I feel about equality and compassion."

So yeah, how about that Keystone XL pipeline? Please tell us you've heard of it.
