Lady Gaga gets David Bowie tattoo ahead of Grammys tribute
Just days ahead of her Grammys tribute to David Bowie, Lady Gaga paid homage to her personal idol in a very permanent way: She had his face tattooed on her torso, always a solid plan.
Gaga, 29, Snapchatted the session on Saturday night, captioning the photos, “This was the image that changed my life,” and, “Hail Mary full of grace Saint Bowie,” and simply, “Blackstar.”
The tattoo was a copy of Bowie’s famed Aladdin Sane album cover.
It’s no secret that Mother Monster has long been obsessed with Bowie, who died last month at age 69.
“When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls,” she told the Hollywood Reporter shortly before his death. “He is a true, true artist and I don’t know if I ever went, 'Oh, I’m going to be that way like this,’ or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that’s what drew me to him.”
