Three 6 Mafia’s founding member, Ricky “Lord Infamous” Dunigan, has died at the age of 40. His body was found at his mother’s home in Memphis, Tenn.

“He did pass away at his mothers house (Friday) night in Memphis,” rep Dove Clark told HipHopDX in an interview. “The cause of death is unknown. We’re actually trying to figure out how he died and that is all the information we currently have."

Dunigan’s success in the music industry began with the help of DJ Paul and Juicy J.

“He passed away in his sleep from a heart attack,” DJ Paul told the Hollywood Reporter. “He said he was tired, he wanted to sleep. He sat down at the kitchen table, put his head in his arms to lay down ... to get some sleep."

In 2010, Dunigan suffered a heart attack and stroke.

R.I.P. lord infamous, Juicy J tweeted Saturday. Thx you for your prayers, I’m very hurt, can’t believe it’s true.

Lil Wyte added: He gave us the name #Triple6Mafia he was a pioneer, he was a god, he was my friend. RIP Ricky 'Lord Infamous’ Dunnigan.

In 2006, Three 6 Mafia won best original song for It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp at the 78th Academy Awards.
