Melanie Brown replaces Sharon Osbourne on 'America's Got Talent'
America’s Got Talent has another new judge to replace Sharon Osbourne, and she also comes across the pond: former Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Because who wouldn’t want to be judged by a woman known for wearing leopard prints and having Eddie Murphy’s baby?
“I’ve known Melanie since she did Dancing with the Stars, and I’ve known her as a performer in The Spice Girls before that,” NBC president of alternative series Paul Telegdy told Entertainment Weekly.
“To know her is to know a very frank, strong, enduring entertainer. Someone who has a very strong point of view. We needed somebody who was qualified for the job. She’s an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her and I can’t wait to see her chemistry with Howard (Stern) and Howie (Mandel).”
Brown has previously been a guest judge on the Australian version of The X Factor and guest host on Britain’s Got Talent, so it’s not like she’s being tossed in the deep end, especially when Telegdy says there may soon be a fourth judge added.
Osbourne announced she wouldn’t be back in August after claiming son Jack was canned from Stars Earn Stripes after elarning he had multiple sclerosis, something NBC denies. The next season of AGT starts on May 28, with Scary Spice front and center.
