She suffered through a couple of off years, but Oprah Winfrey is officially back atop the Forbes list of 100 most powerful celebrities, even after making $88 million less last year. Wow, the recession really did hit everyone hard.

Depsite losing her talk show and some $330 million on her Oprah Winfrey Network, OWN has righted the ship and Winfrey has reclaimed her throne as being the biggest celeb between June 2012 and June 2013. She had been at the top of the heap before, but faltered the last two years. The list is based not on earnings, but rather print and TV mentions, Internet popularity and something called a "marketability score," whatever that is.
The list was pretty female friendly this year, too, with Lady Gaga coming in second, despite hurting her hip and having to cancel her tour. Steven Spielberg came in third, Beyonce Knowles found fourth and Madonna managed fifth. We would round out the list with more people, but the further we read about how subjective the criteria are, the less stock we put in the idea.
