Pierce Brosnan's daughter Charlotte has died after a three-year fight against ovarian cancer, the actor told People exclusively. She was 41.

"On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer," the 60-year-old said in a statement. "She was surrounded by her husband Alex (Smith), children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean."

The magazine says she died in London; their daughter is 14 and their son is 8. Charlotte's mother Cassandra Harris died of the disease in 1991, leaving Brosnan a widower. Harris' mother died of ovarian cancer, as well.

"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon," Brosnan wrote. "We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences."
