Sounds like fun, Randy.

You may have heard (not from The Juice*) that Randy Travis had heart surgery thanks to his viral heart inflammation this week, but it’s not true. His publicist was very clear on this point.

“Travis was admitted into a Texas hospital on Sunday and underwent placement of an Impella peripheral left ventricular assist device for stabilization prior to transferring hospitals,” Kirt Webster told TMZ. “Travis has not undergone heart surgery.”

The site says the Impella device is used to help pump blood from the heart’s ventricles to the rest of the body. The distinction here is that the device is implanted with a catheter through the groin, and not with surgery. Yeah, that sounds much better.

But Travis released a statement anyway, saying, “We are very thankful to the fans for their love and support during this time.” Indeed, it sounds like he needs lots of support.
