'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star NeNe Leakes is 'thankful to be alive'
Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is home after ending up at a hospital -- not because a castmate beat her severely, but because she was suffering from blood clots. What a great promotional opportunity! What? She's fine, so it's already back to business.
"Late last week I wasn’t feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath. I know my body and I know when I should be concerned so I went to the hospital to get checked out," she wrote in a blog post Tuesday. "After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung. I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job."
She also added that she did not, as previously reported, have a heart attack on Monday. "I’m thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening," she said.
Leakes has had a very busy year, remarrying Gregg Leakes in June and starting spinoff series I Dream of NeNe in September. Expect to see the TV version of this crisis in a couple months.
