'Real Housewives of Miami' star Adriana de Moura gets naked for orcas
Brazilian-born Real Housewives of Miami star Adriana de Moura is really wearing her heart on sleeve by being the latest semilebrity to get naked for PETA's cameras. The killer whales should really appreciate this one.
In a press release, PETA says de Moura is the star of a new print ad campaigning against keeping marine mammals in captivity by asking "Could You Live in a bathtub for 40 Years?" Well, it depends on whether we have cable or not.
"When you take your children to a park where an animal is being kept for years in confined quarters … in this age, where we're supposed to be so enlightened — equality for everybody — it's a hypocrisy," de Moura says. "You're sending a message to your children that it's okay to dominate, it's okay to confine."
De Moura's ad in particular focuses on a petition asking that Lolita, an orca kept at the Miami Seaquarium since she was captured in 1970, be allowed to be freed in Washington state's Puget Sound (go to PETA.org for more information). We think an even better protest would be for de Moura to show her kids how bad reality TV is for our society by refusing to be on anymore episodes of Real Housewives.
