Richard Gere and Carey Lowell getting divorced after 11 years
Richard Gere and his wife Carey Lowell are going to get divorced after 11 years of marriage. But don't feel too bad, because they've already been separated for while now.
A source tells the New York Post's Page Six the pair have “been spending time apart for quite some time.” The Post erroneously notes they haven't been photographed together since an Arbitrage screening last year, but as you can see above, they attended the Golden Globes on Jan. 13.
Apparently Gere liked spending time alone and former model and actress Lowell like to party. The pair will be spending a lot of time dividing up the property they own, including a 12,000-square-foot mansion in North Haven, N.Y., that's been on the market for $65 million since July.
"They'll do everything possible to keep things amicable and put their child first," another source tells People. Gere, 64, and Lowell, 52, have a son named Homer, who is 13, and were together seven years before getting married. Gere was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford, while Lowell was once married to photographer John Stember and actor Griffin Dunne.
